Should I change my career—-Cosmetology?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: online cosmetology school

I am a hr asst making 29k a year. I have a passion for hair but I am scared to risk making less with 4 Kids. I can't go part time because I work 9-5 and I have to pick up my kids after work and do other things like homework, dinner, etc. I was thinking about going full time day. I would have to quit my job and I only have 1300 dollars a month coming in for 11months while in school. My roommate said she would help me out as far as rent because she knows this is my passion but I don't like to be dependent or a burden. I am grateful for my job but I have been inlove with hair since 10 years old. I currently go to school online for accounting. I want to open a salon and be a of sales for a company like Aveda, Paul Mitchell. Do you think I should trust in my talents and take the risk? I don't want to regret not doing it. I talked to a Cosmetologist and she makes minimum wage plus commission but she said she just graduated and needs to build up clientele. What do you all think?

Maybe you could do hair now for fun and once the expenses of the kids is a bit less, you could go to school. A LOT of people now work doing what makes good money until their kids are older and then they start their second career doing what they love.

Does being a nurse have to be boring?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: online cosmetology school

I have been thinking of becoming a psychiatric nurse but the problem is I have a very, well… unique style. Now scrubs don’t bother me at all because I know in a medical environment those are pretty much a must however I want to know about hair. I have heard that some places let the nurses have have blue, purple, or cherry bomb red hair and such. I don’t have any facial piercings (though I am planing on getting my nose pierced soon.

Now when I was younger I was in a psychiatric unit and a few nurses there had eyebrow piercings and platinum blonde hair. I never saw a nurse with purple hair there but I read about a woman online who is allowed to have it. Is this because the psychiatric units are more lenient with this? Is this common in most psychiatric units or were these women just lucky?

I would greatly appreciate any ideas because I am trying very hard to find a career path where I can be myself and I really love nursing but if I have to be “Stuffy” then I am just going to go to school for cosmetology which is another thing I have always wanted to do. I would love to be able to do both someday possibly but who knows.

Any answers would be great. :-)
I am 19 years old and still thinking of what I want to do before I go off to school.
Just to answer the questions. I woukdn't care if a nurse had purple hair taking care of me. Hair color doesn't mean someone isn't caring or compassionate or genuine. I'm one of the nicest people out there and I LOVE science and chemistry and anatomy and physiology. I always go A's in those classes and I enjoyed them. But I also want to be able to be myself somewhat. Sorry of that bothers you.

And to the girl that said my being in a mental hospital says alot maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge people. You don't even know WHY I was there or how long ago it even was.

I intend to be a hair dresser and maybe I will go to school for nursing or psychology that way I can get a degree and then when I feel like doing it I will have the knowledge behind me.

Thanks for the answers though.

I’ve never heard of nurses with such strange hair and stuff. Some hospitals may allow it, I don’t know. But i disagree with all these people saying the job wouldn’t be “for you”. I’m pretty unique too and i want to be a nurse so I think all those people are pretty stupid, but then again only you know if the job is for you.
Good Luck!!☺

Anyone know about reborning dolls, or does anyone make reborn dolls?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: online cosmetology school

Over the past couple months I have become increasingly interested in roborn dolls, and learning to make them myself. I've found a couple tutorials online, but I would love to know how other artists do it. I admit, I'm slightly confused by the purple wash thing. Do I dye it? Or paint it, and if I paint it do I paint inside or out? Which method works better? If you have any examples of your work, so I can see how the techniques differ, I'd really appreciate it. Please email me, The link thing is in my profile. I'm hoping to avoid the 'dead/bruised' baby look. Also, I like the idea of rooting the hair as opposed to a wig, but I hate the look of mohair. It looks frizzy and just plain odd, in my opinion. Is there some rule about not using human hair? Or is it more a cost thing ?(having gone to cosmetology school I know how pricey a human hair track can be) Any info or tips would be much appreciated! Thanks so much to all the genuine answers! :)

I do know that they paint them from inside, and the bruising is more about the type of paint they use. have fun and good luck!
